If you are comparing Phuket locations for the first time, start with Bang Tao - not because it is the cheapest, but because it gives you the most data points. More premium condo projects have been delivered around this bay in the past decade than anywhere else on the island, so asking prices, rental rates and resale times can be checked against completed buildings rather than developer renderings.

The area's anchor is the Laguna estate: a golf course, lagoons, long-established hotels and private roads that keep their standard year-round. Just south, the Boat Avenue and Porto de Phuket cluster has grown into genuine everyday infrastructure - supermarkets, clinics, restaurants, weekend markets - used by residents as much as tourists. That matters: most Phuket resort zones go quiet in low season, while Bang Tao keeps functioning twelve months a year.

Be honest about the trade-offs. Traffic on the access roads thickens every year, and inland construction means some projects sold as 'beachside' are a fifteen-minute drive from the sand - always check the real distance, not the brochure distance. For foreign buyers the practical questions are building management and rental licensing: identical floor plans in neighbouring buildings can earn visibly different returns purely on operator quality. Ask for real booking calendars from past seasons before you compare prices per square metre.
